Meaning
The Shiva Tandava Stotram was composed by Ravana in praise of Lord Shiva. It magnificently describes Shiva's cosmic dance (Tandava). The stotra portrays Shiva's divine form - the Ganga flowing from his matted hair, the serpent garland around his neck, the sound of the damaru drum, the fire on his forehead, and the crescent moon. Shiva is described as the destroyer of Kama (desire), Tripura (three cities of demons), worldly existence, sacrifices, Gajasura, Andhakasura, and even Yama (death).
