Meaning
Devi Kavacham is a powerful protective armor from the Markandeya Purana. When sage Markandeya asked Lord Brahma about the supreme secret for protection, Brahma revealed this Devi Kavacham. It lists the nine forms of Durga (Navadurga) - Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. It describes the seven mother goddesses (Saptamatrikas) - Chamunda, Varahi, Aindri, Vaishnavi, Maheshwari, Kaumari, and Brahmi. The celebrated verse 'Sarva Mangala Mangalye' is from this Kavacham.
Benefits
Reciting Devi Kavacham provides protection from fire, enemies, adverse situations, and dangerous places. In battle or crisis, nothing inauspicious occurs. Sorrow, grief, and fear are destroyed. Devoted remembrance brings growth and prosperity. Recitation during Navratri is especially auspicious.
